My story
I'm a content specialist with 20+ years experience in content and communications. I've worked in charities, elearning and academic publishing. I've been the sole marketing and digital person, and I've led a team of 8 specialists. I'm passionate about plain language, and I'm skilled at working with sensitive and complex topics.

What I Offer
Content design and strategy
From a single page review to complete site audits, I can help identify and make content improvements. I can also help with content design, strategy, governance and workflows. And I really love building webpages. I'll happily zip through building and migrating content using a range of website CMSes including Umbraco, Drupal, EPiServer, Wagtail and Wordpress as well as bespoke systems.
Copywriting
I've always worked with words, and I started writing stories as soon as I learnt how to use a pen. I've created compelling copy for digital and for print. To tell stories, sell products, raise income, educate, inform and advise. I've written reports, websites, social posts, email newsletters, campaign copy, leaflets, posters... and more.
UX and SEO
Everything I do is people-centred. That means creating a great user experience (UX) and making sure people can find your content (with SEO or search engine optimisation). I take a practical approach and I keep up to date with the latest trends. That includes keeping pace with the ever-changing way AI is affecting search and content.
Editing and proofreading
If you need a second pair of eyes, I'd love to help. I've worked on a range of specialist subjects including safeguarding, town planning, linguistics, theology and biblical studies, police and prison custody, probation, literature, domestic abuse, environment and climate change, film and TV production, accountancy, online safety and nutrition to name just a few! I'm passionate about plain language and working with, and developing, authors.

What does it cost?
No two charity copywriting or content design projects are the same, so I tailor my costs based on your specific needs. I can work on both a project basis (where I provide a quote based on your requirements) and a retained days basis (where you 'buy' a number of days to allocate as you need). My rate starts at £300–£350 a day, which is in line with my experience and competitive for the charity sector.
